Recurrent leiomyomatosis peritonealis disseminate: a case report

چکیده

Leiomyomatosis peritonealis disseminata (LPD), a rare and unusual condition affecting mainly women of reproductive age, causes peritoneal subperitoneal nodules formed by smooth muscle. Very few cases have been diagnosed since the disease was first described. We present 42year old female who managed for infertility uterine myomata at Municipal hospital in Ghana. Following pelvic ultrasound diagnosis multiple patient booked myomectomy. At surgery to remove her myomata, found several some which were attached peritoneum, omentum surface bowel loops addition myoma. The has recurred twice after two laparotomies. made histopathology ultrasound-guided biopsy nodules, she on GnRH analogue treatment. LPD simulates carcinomatosis; thus, good history, clinical evaluation, radiological imaging, histopathologic analysis must be accurately diagnosed. Surgeons’ Radiologists’ knowledge is fundamental ensuring correct appropriate treatment minimising probability malignant transformation.
